Generator

(there) - hundreds of years ago

Sari entered the front room of the town’s Generatrix guild hall. “Hi, Nadja!” she said as she approached the round faced woman standing behind a counter. The woman looked up and when she saw Sari, she straightened even more.

“Shanti!” Nadja glanced over to where a woman was seated and motioned with her hand. Shanti looked up and quickly scurried out of the room when she saw Sari.

Sari watched the woman hurry out through a door in the back of the room then looked back at Nadja. “I wanted to report to the guild that I have taken on an Arbor.”

“You’re a fucking idiot, Sari. You know that you are going to get in trouble for this.”

Naught

(there) - hundreds of years ago

“Hello!?” Sari was trying to look through the window of the library. It was so dark inside and the the morning sun so bright. She knocked on the door again rattling the chain she was holding as she did. Miko stood calmly at the other end of the chain, naked and bare foot. Her hands were in front again with a half meter of metal links between the cuffs.

“Hello?!”

Sari saw some movement in the darkness and heard a timid voice call from within. “It’s open!”

Sari pushed through the door leading Miko in behind her.

“I’m forbidden to get any closer to the exit.”

The Dependencing Process

(there) - hundreds of years ago

With a soft hiss, nostrils flared under a pair of closed, almond shaped eyes. Soft brown lips then pursed and air streamed from within. And this pattern, repeating again and again, measured time in quick stuttering steps. Hair, coarse and long, lay splayed around the woman’s head like a blackened halo. An artery in her neck pulsed in time with her racing heart.

Dog, A Metaphor

"We are not but bushes in a garden and Love is a dog choosing on which of us to pee," Valet said as she held a mostly empty glass of wine out.

Set Sari

Thread 2, Part 1:
Generator

Set Sari (an ancient folk song)

(there)

Set Sari
Set Sari through the summer and into the fall.
Sari is not moving; she lingers in the wall.
Set Sari through the winter and into the Spring.
Her mouth's filled with stone; you will not hear her scream.

Watch the sun move up overhead, and then again back down
Colors ripen, tease and play then darken black and brown
The moon waxes wide and fills. Then sated, once again wanes thin.
Pouring light upon the market square, she'll never leave again.

Listen to the pendulum blade swing inside the town's clock.
Tapping feet clap cobblestones that echo down the block.
Melodies of voices swell like tides washing to the walls.
And there, sealed in, is Sari unhearing of their calls.

Tap the wall, Love, here, where the moss grows green.
Touch the ashlar tenderly where Sari stands unseen.
For now stone hands hold limbs and hips and press upon her chest.
And now stone hands will disallow Love's whispered breath's caress.
Love, twist your crank, now, uselessly 'til broken is the bore.
Still locked inside the masonry her heart beats forevermore.

Set Sari through the Summer and into the Fall.
Dreaming of antiquities; she lingers in the wall.
Set Sari through the Winter and into the Spring.
Memories fading into stone. You can not hear her scream.
